About Chiropractic

What is Chiropractic?

It is the philosophy, science and healing art that is focusing its attention on wellness and ultimate performance of the human body in respect of proper function of the nervous system. Chiropractic is flourishing in modern society as one of the most respected and successful branches of alternative medicine and primary care.

Literally, chiropractic means: "done by hand". Chiropractors are the only health care professionals that offer a unique ability and skill to adjust and eliminate subluxation which negatively affect function of the nervous system.

What is Subluxation?

Vertebral subluxation is a mis-alignment of one or more spinal vertebrae which interferes with performance of the spinal cord and/or spinal nerves. The main three factors causing subluxations are:

  • Physical (overuse and misuse of body, trauma, muscular imbalance)
  • Mental (financial stress, unhappy relationships, worries, grief)
  • Chemical (pharmaceuticals, caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, processed food, aspartame found in artificial sweeteners, milk, sugar)

The Most Important Principle of Chiropractic

The most important principle of chiropractic is to enhance capacity of the body to heal itself (vitalism). Our body is designed to be healthy and health is a normal state. Chiropractor, unlike medical doctor, does not treat disease but by taking into consideration all aspects of one's life focuses on the patient as a whole (holism). Moreover, he/she does not use unnecessary medication or surgery, which may have harmful side effects, but use their hands and knowledge of human body to care for a patient. When subluxation occurs and portions of the body become weak and function is improper, it may be months or even years before that weakness resurfaces with painful and sometimes pathological symptom.

Chiropractic is about vigorous living, being balanced, grounded, happy and satisfied with your overall health. The chiropractor is the only doctor in healthcare profession who together with the patient can achieve the goal of wellness.
